Where to go: Mimi Blue

Address: 8702 Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis  (additional restaurants in Indianapolis and Carmel)

What to get: 4 Balls

Price: $12

Mike G’s take: It’s officially time to shop, so what better place to try new food than the mall? I thought I had eaten some good meatballs until I tried Mimi Blue’s at The Fashion Mall at Keystone. Once seated, you are handed a menu and a marker for your selections. The entire menu is a la carte, so you get to choose between meatballs, sandwiches, salads and plates that combine some of its meat or vegetarian options with sides. For the first time, I really enjoyed the freedom to choose the type of meatballs and paired sauce(s). That really enhanced the experience for me.

What I tried:

4 Balls, two classic and two fried chicken meatballs with marinara, spicy cilantro, garlic cream and bourbon barbeque sauces. Everything was cooked perfect and each sauce complemented the meat choices. I’ll be doing some shopping this month and plan to try more options from the menu.

Popular menu items:

4 Balls, $12 – Four meatballs of your choice topped with the sauce you want and served with baguette bread. Meat options include classic (beef and pork combo), turkey, beef, buffalo turkey, fried chicken, veggie, black bean quinoa, wonderball or specials that regularly change. Sauce options include marinara, garlic cream, spicy bolognese, spicy cilantro, honey sriracha, mushroom gravy, bourbon barbeque, sriracha aioli and a special.

Sandwiches, $12-14 – Stacked Chicken or Mimi’s Mom Brisket sandwiches are served on a Hawaiian bun with a side of market greens.

Sliders, $3.75 – Your choice of meatball served on a brioche bun with choice of sauce.
